The Landing 1841
Despite moving to Florida a few years ago, Dan and Amanda always knew they wanted to get married close to their hometown of Antioch, Illinois. This area is where they were both raised and where the majority of their families reside. Burlington is an absolutely beautiful, quiet and serene small town. Each time Amanda and Dan return to Wisconsin, one of their favorite things to do is take a drive outside the small town through the forests and rolling hills of wide open farmland (which they both agree is a must do activity for out of town guests!). Additionally, Dan’s grandfather used to own a hunting property in Burlington, which he would often visit as a child.
Dan and Amanda were initially set on a choosing a completely different venue to host their wedding. After a long day of touring multiple venues, they stopped off at Rugan’s, one of their favorite martini bars in Burlington. Over some much needed post-wedding venue touring lunch and drinks, Amanda was over it at that point, and expressed to Dan that they might as well skip their last appointment for the day, which happened to be scheduled at The Landing. After all, they spent an entire afternoon of touring beautiful wedding venues, and Amanda thought they had a good selection to choose from. Dan thought they might as well just keep their appointment and tour the venue “just for fun”, so they decided to keep their appointment to tour the property.
When they pulled up to the venue, they were immediately blown away. Even though it was early Spring and there was still snow on the ground and not a piece of greenery in sight, it was absolutely gorgeous. When they got out of the car, they both knew what the other was thinking, and expressed to each other that they felt like “this was the place”. After touring the beautiful property, they both had their minds made up that this HAD to be the place they get married.
